Dewalt teams up with EPT

February 18, 2009

Dewalt Tools Canada has become the major sponsor of the Eastern Pro Tour, a professional snowmobile racing series. The Eastern Pro Tour competes on the ice ovals in New England, New York, Quebec and Ontario as a five race series sanctioned by SCM (Super Competition Motorsports).

Promotion of the Eastern Pro Tour and snowmobiling in general will be done in English and French through television ads, track signage and on the web. The tour schedule and series announcements will be posted on the official Dewalt NASCAR site, which has an average of 90,000 visitors.

Dewalt wills also be promoting, through their distributors. When an event is being held, the area distributor will be involved in the promotion of the sport of snowmobiling. They will be promoting both the competitive snowmobiler and the trail rider.

The two leading classes, Pro Champ and Semi Pro Champ, are each competing for a Dewalt Cup championship. First and second place in the total points for the series will be awarded special prizes in addition to a beautiful Dewalt Cup trophy to the winner of each class.

The five feature classes on the tour are: Pro Champ, Semi Pro Champ, Pro Formula 500, Semi Pro Formula 500 and Pro Stock. On each of the five weekends of the series, one class will compete for a tool kit valued at $600. The kit will be awarded to the competitor in that class who accumulates the highest number of points for the weekend of competition.

To get more racers to compete in all events of the series, Dewalt has announced “The Tough Guy Club”, open to racers in all categories. They must compete in all five events and will be recognized at the year-end banquet. All members of the club will have their names entered in a special draw for a master tool set valued at approximately $1200. With two events completed there are currently 32 members of the club at this point in the season.

The third and most prestigious event of the series, the Grand Prix de Valcourt, at the Skidoo test centre in Valcourt, Quebec, takes place Feb. 20-21-22. The tour moves on the following weekend of February 28th and March 1st to Eganville, Ontario for the 35th Annual Bonnechere Cup. After a weekend off, the teams will travel to Roberval, Quebec where they will race on March 15-16th to complete the five race series.

Dewalt has taken a step to put competitive snowmobiling in the public eye.

CONGRATULATIONS

June 27, 2008

On Thursday June 26, the Berthier Member of Provincial Parliament, François Benjamin, honored 7 of his constituants.

One of this group, "Uncle Jacques Villeneuve" received the medal of the National Assembly, for his long career in motorsport including Formula Atlantic, the Can-Am Series, CART and snowmobile.

"The Berthier area is now better known on a regional, national and international level, due to Jacques Villeneuve's contribution. With all his racing successes, with all the courage he showed and coming back after serious injuries and again at the present time as a "teacher" for youngters making their debut in GO KARTS, Jacques is an example of a person of this area who serves as model with the goal of continuing the developpement of his community", mentioned Mr Benjamin in his presentation.

Our congratulations to Jacques, who, for this "special occasion", had chosen to wear a tie, a truly rare occurrence!!!

Welcome to the new scmracing.com!

June 20, 2008

As you can see, we have updated our Web site presentation, thanks to our new webmaster, Daniel Mulligan.

Daniel is now in charge to put snowmobile racing related information in two different sections, snow-cross and oval. "The Kid" is my nephew and has motorsports (especially oval racing) in his blood. He is the flagman at different race tracks and is the S.C.M. official flagman for the EASTERN PRO TOUR.

Other news: as many of you already know, I sold the sno-cross division of S.C.M. to Linda Fortin and Gerald Asselin from St-Felicien Qc . Don't get me wrong, I still like sno-cross and will be at every sno-cross event anytime there is not an EASTERN PRO TOUR event. All of the S.C.M. officials will be back for the 2008 - 2009 winter season.

I hope you will like the new presentation of this Web site. If you have any recommendations, let us know by sending us an E-mail.

As we are planning to be more active on our site, we invite you to visit us frequently for other news.
